Odisha cuts summer vacation short for school students

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has decided to cut the summer vacation short for school students to complete the syllabus.

As per the decision by State School & Mass Education Department, the students will have summer vacation only for 11 days starting from June 6 to 16.

“The summer vacation will be curtailed and allowed for a brief period i.e., from 6 th June to 16 th June, 2022,” the Department stated in a release today.

In order to compensate Learning Losses arising out of COVID-19 during last two years, Learning Recovery Plan (LRP) as envisaged by OSEPA will be implemented with the existing teachers during morning classes, the release stated.

This apart, morning classes will commence from May 1 to June 5. The teaching hour will be from 6 am to 9 am during the period till the further orders. Cooked MDM will be supplied to the eligible beneficiaries

Furthermore, the class promotion process for the students from Class 1 to 8 will be made by April 20. The process for admission and re-admission for Class 1 to 9 will be completed between April 20 and 30.

As per the New Assessment Policy introduced by BSE, Odisha, Class 9 students have to appear Summative Assessment-II Examination. However, the conduct of SA-II and declaration of result for students of Class 9 and promotion to Class 10 must be completed by May 10, 2022.
