Odisha: Cuttack admin flags off tableau as part of publicity campaign ahead of Bali Yatra

The tableau will visit various places in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and towns like Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Paradeep to create publicity on the annual trade fair.

Bhubaneswar: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today flagged off a tableau to create wide publicity regarding Bali Yatra, the biggest trade fair in Odisha.

The iconic fair will kick off on the banks of Mahanadi river in the Silver City on the occasion of Kartika Purnima on November 27.

The tableau was flagged off in a colourful event at Bali Yatra ground in the presence of Mayor Subhash Chandra Singh, Deputy Mayor Damayanti Majhi, Cuttack district Collector Narahari Sethy, corporators and seniors officials of district administration and CMC in the morning.

The tableau will visit various places in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and towns like Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Paradeep to create publicity on the annual trade fair, said an official of the CMC.

The annual trade fair, which is organized in the Silver City to celebrate the glorious maritime history of Odisha, will continue till December 4.

As many as 1,900 stalls displaying various handicrafts and other household goods are expected to come up on the fairground this year. The Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society will open at least 400 stalls at this year’s Bali Yatra, added the official.

Moreover, a private agency from Tamil Nadu has been roped in to bring its mobile tunnel aquarium to the fair.

Notably, the Odisha government had accorded the state festival tag to Bali Yatra a few years ago.
