Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha today announced the date for online application of the Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) examination, a qualifying exam for teaching aspirants in the State.

The date of the exam is yet to be announced. Sources say the test might be held in the next month.

According to the BSE, the candidates can fill their forms online through the official website of BSE bseodisha.nic.in between November 12 and November 27.

The OTET exam will be held for both Category-A (Paper-I) and Category-B (Paper-II).

students having higher secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and two-year diploma in elementary education (CT or D.El.Ed.) can write the Paper I test.

Students having higher secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002 are also eligible.

Students securing at least 50 per cent marks in Plus II and four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) can also appear for the Paper I test.

Similarly, graduation along with two-year D.El.Ed is necessary to write the Paper II exam. And, those with 50 per cent marks in Higher Secondary and four-year B.A/ B.Sc, Ed are also eligible for the Paper II test.

The OTET test is mandatory to select candidates for the appointment of teacher for Classes I to VIII in government, private aided, and private unaided schools across the state.
