Odisha declares holiday on October 25 for solar eclipse

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today declared October 25 as the public holiday on account of a solar eclipse.

As per official release from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), all government offices, educational institutions, courts, banks and other financial institutions will remain closed on October 25 (Tuesday) due to solar eclipse.

The partial Surya Grahan on October 25,  which is the last solar ecplise of the year, will be visible in all the states in the country.

As per Hindu almanac, the eclipse will begin at 4.56 pm (IST) and will be at its peak at 5.43 PM (IST). It will remain for a period of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It will last till 6.26 PM (IST).

Hence, there will be no rituals at temples from 4.57 AM (IST) onwards on October 25. The preparation and intake of food will be strictly avoided during the period. The religious rituals will resume after 6.32 pm on October 25 following ritual bath.
