Bhubaneswar: In a bid to keep the State Capital clean and green, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) took a tough stance yesterday and has slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 (each) on three agencies for illegally putting up ‘TO-LET’ handbills on public space in Nayapalli under this civic limit.
“Team BMC imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on each and lodged FIRs against three agencies for affixing massive posters across the City walls, poles, etc,” a senior BMC official said today.
“Notices were pasted today on defunct vehicles and structures placed on the road. Action will be taken by the civic body if the owner does not take necessary steps for removal,” the official added.
In a similar vein, the BMC recently penalised the owners of several marriage mandaps, hotels, and other business establishments for violating prescribed garbage disposal norms.
“The civic body is creating awareness among denizens to strictly follow the prescribed norms and keep the city clean. BMC has been collecting garbage right from the doorsteps. Despite so much of provisions, some people have been violating the guidelines,” the BMC official expressed.
