Odisha: Devotees to get ‘Abhada’ at Puri Srimandir again soon

Puri: Devotees visiting Shree Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim city of Odisha will be able to get the ‘Mahaprasad’ or ‘Abhada’ soon. As per a decision taken during a meeting between the Suara Mahasuara Nijog and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar restrictions on sale of the Mahaprasad will be eased and devotees will be able to order for the ‘Abhada’ during the holy month of ‘Kartika’.

The ‘Mahaprasad’ will be available for devotees at ‘Uttara Dwara’ and ‘Dakshina Dwara’ of the temple, said a member of the nijog.

The meeting also decided to propose the Odisha government for reopening of the temple for visitors from the first week of December.

Sources said the SJTA has already suggested the State government to allow devotees to pay obeisance to the deities at the ‘Aruna Stambha’ as the temple has been closed in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the Suara Mahasuara Nijog stopped accepting orders for the ‘Mahaprasad’ last month after many servitors tested positive.
