Bhubaneswar: The inaugural session of Odisha Dialysis Technicians Meet (ODTM) was held at IGKC Multispecialty Hospital on July 15 in Bhubaneswar.
The event organised by the IGKC Multispecialty Hospital and KOREF (Kidney Odisha Research and Education Foundation) proved to be a remarkable success, bringing together dialysis technicians and nurses from various parts of the state.
The primary objective of ODTM was to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote excellence in the care of kidney failure patients.
Distinguished speakers and experts from the field of nephrology and urology contributed to the scientific program, highlighting recent advances in transplantation and dialysis.
Dr. Subodh Das, senior urologist and most experienced kidney transplant surgeon of Odisha, underscored the significance of adopting cutting-edge technologies, including robotics, laser, and laparoscopy, in kidney care.
Dr. Sukant Das, a senior nephrologist, shed light on the safety aspects and various considerations of ABO incompatible transplantation, while emphasizing the pivotal role played by dialysis technicians in pretransplant desensitization protocols.
The event also featured engaging sessions by renowned medical professionals, such as Dr. J.K. Behera and Dr. A. Pandey, who provided valuable insights into access creation and safety in dialysis. Dr. P.C. Dalai, the IGKC Hospital's Managing Director, emphasized the indispensable contribution of dialysis technicians in caring for patients with end-stage kidney disease.
In addition to the scientific programme, the attendees paid heartfelt tributes to the late Prof. Sapan Kumar Palit, acknowledging his immeasurable contributions to the field of Dialysis and Kidney Care in Odisha. Notable senior dialysis technicians, including CV Raju, Sushil, Santosh, Gyan, Jeevan, Biswajit, Priyabrata, Rabindra, Ansuman, Shantanu, Ajeet, Sarojini, along with other esteemed professionals, actively participated in the meet. Dr. Rupsa, DMS, and Subrat Kumar Das, AGM, IGKC Multispecialty Hospital were also among the dignitaries in attendance.
