Odisha districts issued advisory to stay alert for possible flooding

Bhubaneswar: With prediction of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of Odisha in the next 3 days, all districts have been issued advisory to be alert for possible flooding.

“Administrative machinery of all districts, especially Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur are to remain alert to meet any localised flood or water-logging situation that may arise in the event of extremely or very heavy rainfall,” said Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi in the notice.

The Collectors of all the districts in the state have been notified to stay vigilant during enhanced rainfall activity in Odisha between June 30 and July 2.

Notably, due to likely formation of low pressure over north Bay of Bengal, squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail in Odisha for next 3 days, as per Indian Meteorological Department forecast.
