Baripada: Taking prompt action, the Mayurbhanj police arrested the main accused in the kidnap and rape of a divyang girl inside a forest in Kathachua area under Sarat police limits in Mayurbhanj district a few days ago.

The arrested accused has been identified as Surat Singh of Dhapada village in the district.

The arrest was made after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint with Sarat police on August 3 evening, though the incident had occurred on July 31.

As per the complaint, a youth kidnapped the girl when she was alone at her house, took her to a forest and raped her. She was later rescued from the forest in critical condition.
