Odisha divyang students to get 5% reservation in technical education

Bhubaneswar: Odisha announced five percent reservation for divyang students for admission into technical and professional courses in educational institutions, with effect from 2018-19 academic session.

The move will be implemented under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, said a notification released by Skill Development & Technical Education department on Thursday here.

Earlier, there was 3% reservation for divyang students in the technical education in the state.

With the recent notification raising the number of reserved seats for persons with disabilities, more number of divyang students will be able to get enrolled in top technical and professional institutions offering bachelors and masters degree courses.
