Odisha Vigilance today arrested Dr Anant Kumar Das, assistant professor of Paediatric Surgery of MKCG Medical College and Hospital for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a patient’s kin.
Dr. Das, who had demanded Rs 10,000 from one Suraj Kumar Chauhan for conducting a surgery on a newborn, was caught red-handed by the Vigilance while taking the bribe amount.
Chauhan had informed the Vigilance SP about Dr. Das demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 to conduct the surgery on the newborn following which a trap was laid and Dr. Das was caught red-handed by officials of the anti-corruption wing while he was taking the bribe.
Later, Vigilance officials raided Dr. Das’s residence.
