Odisha doctor held for running drug racket; 2 other resellers also arrested

Jajpur: Jajpur police arrested three persons including a dentist for allegedly running a drug racket here in the district.

Police sources said that the accused dentist Dr. Nigamananda Khatua was the kingpin in the drug-trafficking network in Jajpur town. He had set up his dental clinic at Mahavir Vihar under Jajpur Town police limits.

Acting on a tip-off, the Jajpur Town police apprehended two locals — Sandip Kumar Mallick and Rakhyakar Dikshit — while they were selling brown sugar at Sundarei Muhan Chhak yesterday. Following interrogation, the police arrested the doctor and recovered 25.2 gm of brown sugar, worth around Rs 2.5 lakh, from their possession.
