Odisha doctor tests COVID +ve after 2nd vaccine dose

Rourkela: A 71-year-old contractual doctor working as an Assistant Surgeon at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) here tested positive for COVID-19, seventeen days after receiving the second dose of vaccine.

According to reports, the septuagenarian was administered first dose of COVID-19 vaccine (Covishield) on January 16 and second dose on February 15. However, he developed COVID symptoms on March 1.

He underwent RT-PCR test on March 4, which came out Covid-19 positive. His swab sample was again collected yesterday and sent to Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar for another test to ascertain the real status of infection.

The doctor said he might have contracted the virus from COVID-19 patients at the hospital. He is currently under home isolation.
