Odisha doctors’ leaves cancelled for Cyclone FANI

Bhubaneswar: In view of very severe cyclonic storm FANI, Odisha government cancelled the leaves of all the doctors and employees in Health department till May 15.

The employees, who are off the duty, have been asked to report to their concerned authorities at the district headquarters hospitals by evening on May 1.

The Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) were directed to monitor the matter.

The extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI in Bay of Bengal lay centered at 05.30 am on May 1, about 680 km south- southwest of Puri and 430 km south–southeast of Vishakhapatnam.

It is very likely to intensify further and cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, to the south of Puri around May 3 with maximum sustained wind speed 175-185 kmph gusting to 205 kmph.

As per the prediction by the IMD, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore districts of Odisha are likely to be severely affected.
