Odisha DQ scam: CDA sends notice to 20 beneficiaries for hearing

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, May 15:

The Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), which is probing the irregularities under the discretionary quota (DQ), has sent notice to 20 beneficiaries in first phase asking them to be present for single DQ hearing.

After completing the hearing of 125 beneficiaries, who had availed multiple plots under DQ in April, the CDA has geared for single DQ hearing issuing notice to 20 beneficiaries in the first phase.

The beneficiaries, who were issued the notice, will appear before the CDA in last week of May and will clarify the authorities why the allotted plots will not be cancelled.

Total 833 beneficiaries will be sent the notice in phases and single DQ hearing will be made accordingly, informed CDA Secretary Kabindra Sahoo.

The record showed that total 921 beneficiaries were allotted the plots under single DQ, but notice sending process has begun for hearing of 833 beneficiaries deducting 88 cases that came out to be double in the probe. As the number of cases is more, hearing process will be completed as soon as possible, Sahoo added.

Earlier, the CDA had approved cancellation of plots allotted to 12 beneficiaries who had availed multiple plots under the DQ.

In the course of probe, it was found that 12 beneficiaries had availed multiple plots under DQ by providing wrong information through false affidavits.
