The Jatni police yesterday arrested DSP Radhashyam Mohapatra's son Biswajit Mohapatra, who is the prime accused in the murder of a chemist here in Odisha's Khordha district.

Biswajit alias Bapu was arrested from Uchhabali in Keonjhar and forwarded to court, reports said.

According to sources, he had allegedly attacked Sudhanshu Mishra, a chemist of Taraboi village near Jatni, on June 1. A grievously injured Sudhanshu had succumbed to his injuries.

As per information, Bapu had an one-sided love affair with Mishra's niece. However, Mishra was strongly opposing Bapu's approach. Mishra had conducted her niece's engagement ceremony with another boy last month.

In a fit of rage, Bapu attacked Mishra with a sharp weapon when the latter was at his medicine store on the night of May 1. Mishra sustained critical injuries in the attack and was initially admitted to Khordha hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, doctors declared him brought dead there.

Bapu, who went absconding after committing the crime, was arrested by Jatni police from Keonjhar last night.
