Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) revoked the suspension of IPS officer D S Kutey and recommended action against another IPS officer Ashish Singh for providing misinformation about his health condition.
The suspension of DS Dubey be revoked with immediate effect with the condition that other directions given on the order dated May 28m 2024 will continue as per the rules applicable, as per the ECI order.
On the other hand, the Election Commission directed to take action against IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh following the medical report.
After perusing the report of the Special Medical Board, AIIMS Bhubaneswar declaring Ashish Kumar Singh physically fit, the EC found it a case of misrepresentation of facts on the part of the IPS officer.
The EC directed the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, to forward the AIIMS report to the Chief Secretary for appropriate action against Ashish Singh as deemed fit.
Two IPS officers -- Ashish Singh and D S Kutey -- had faced ire from the ECI for allegedly working for the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
On May 28, the ECI suspended D S Kutey, who was serving as Special Secretary in Odisha CMO, for unduly interfering in the conduct of elections. The Commission directed Ashish Singh, who was on a leave on health ground since May 4, to be present for a detailed examination by a special medical board constituted by the director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
