Odisha: Elderly man gets lifer for raping minor girl
Bhadrak: The Additional District Judge here today sentenced a 58-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2016.
As per an FIR lodged by the mother of the 12-year-old girl with Tihidi police on February 16, 2016, Nilamani Das, the convict, had raped the victim while she had gone to a river for washing utensils. Later, the minor girl became pregnant.

Acting on the complaint, police had arrested Nilamani and forwarded him to court. He was behind bars since then as an undertrial prisoner.
Adjudicating the case, the court today convicted him under Section 4 of POCSO Act and Section 376 of the IPC and awarded him life imprisonment.
