Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded over 70% voter turnout in the first phase of the General Elections to Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies yesterday.

Odisha went to twin polls in the fourth phase of the General Elections yesterday. In its first phase, approximately 73.97% of voting took place in 4 Lok Sabha Constituencies.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, As of 11.45 PM yesterday, the polling in the fourth phase of General Elections recorded 67.25% voter turnout in 96 parliamentary constituencies across 10 states.

While West Bengal registered the highest voter turnout at 78.37% in its 8 parliamentary constituencies followed by Andhra Pradesh at 76.50% in 25 parliamentary constituencies, Odisha was placed third with 73.97% voter turnout in 28 Assembly seats under 4 parliamentary constituencies as of 11.45 PM on Monday (May 13).

The lowest percentage of voting was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir.
