Odisha Elections phase II: EVM glitches in several booths; voting delayed

Bhubaneswar: The voting was delayed in several booths across Odisha due to glitches in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in second phase of Odisha polls began today.

While the voters were seen in queue to elect their representatives in the morning, some returned to their house without casting their votes due to non functioning of the EVMs.

The EVM glitches were reported from several polling booths in Sundargarh, Talsara, Bonai, Kendudihi, Fakirmunda, Chhidakud, Usukujula, Khalasaghat.

The glitches in EVMs caused delay in voting at booths 204 and 205 in Sagarpalli of Sonepur district, two booths — 113 and 101 in Phulbani, two booths in Buguda and booth-196 in Hinjili.

Similarly, the EVMs were found non-functional in booth number 65 and 68 in Balangir, booth 158 in Aska and booth – 179 in G.Udayagiri and booth – 54 in Baliguda Mahasingh.

On the other hand, the voters boycotted polling in two booths of Loisinga alleging far distance of polling booths from their villages.
