Tension prevailed on Tuesday in the private engineering college after Sachetan Mohanty, a mechanical engineering  third-year student attempted suicide. The agitating students sitting on a dharna only stopped the protest after the police officials said that they will talk to the college authorities and find a solution.

According to the allegation , Sachetan , a native of  Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district , was being pulled up repeatedly by the head of his department for creating trouble.  Some days ago the teacher had also complained to his guardians about his misbehaviour.

Disturbed by the turn of events, under severe mental stress the student drank phenyle Monday late night.

The students of the college sat on protest against the teacher yesterday, they were demanding his dismissal. Sachetan has been admitted to a private hospital and is now out of danger.

His family members had been informed and have reached the hospital.
