Bhubaneswar: After a gap of three years, candidates will be enrolled for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) in Odisha in 2023-24 academic year, sources said.

The state government has initiated process for the same, they added.

The state government has invited tenders from various private agencies to conduct the computer-based test (CBT) for enrollment candidates for the D.El.Ed, earlier known as Certificate Training (CT) course for teachers.

“The agencies have been asked to submit their tenders by March 22. As many as 1.20 lakh candidates are likely to appear for the CBT. The state government will set up exam centres in all 30 districts of Odisha,” said an official.

It has been planned to set question papers in both Odia and English languages. Steps are being taken for timely completion of the CBT and enrollment process, he added.

“The state government will select a private agency to manage the CBT. But, the Directorate of TE and SCERT will register the aspirants, issue online admit cards and arrange exam centres. The private agency will arrange a mock test for the candidates at least 15 days ahead of the exam,” said the official.

The candidates will be allotted 90 minutes to answer 90 questions in the CBT. Differently-abled candidates will be given additional 20 minutes during the test, sources said.

Enrollment for D.El.Ed was conducted for the last time in Odisha during 2020-21.

Notably, the state has altogether 6,500 seats for D.El.Ed in 30 DIETs, four BIETs and 31 ETEIs across Odisha.
