Odisha: Excise dept seizes brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh

Puri: In a crackdown on illegal drug trade, the Puri Excise officials have seized 102 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh from Narendra Kone Biseswara Lane in Puri town and arrested five persons.

Acting on reliable information, the Excise team raided a place in Narendra Kone Biseswara Lane late last night. The officials nabbed five persons for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling. This apart, three motorcycles were seized from the spot.

The arrested persons were Kanhei Patra, Buddhia Naik, Chiku Das, Chandan and Kabu Rath.
