Odisha facing possible terror threats via sea route: NIA DG

Bhubaneswar: Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Yogesh Chander Modi today said that Odisha has been facing possible terror threats through sea route. The Central Intelligence department has also provided inputs in this regard.

Speaking at a one-day training programme for police officers on investigation of cases related to terrorism at Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the NIA DG said, “Terrorism can be curbed if the investigating agency or team puts control on terror funding.”

The motive of the training is to replicate the NIA’s method of investigation and help the Odisha Police probe terror related cases in a better way, he added.

More than 80 officers attended the training programme, jointly organized by Odisha police and NIA.

Worth mentioning, Abdur Rehman of Cuttack and some other persons from Rourkela were arrested earlier for allegedly having links with terrorism.
