Odisha: Fake currency notes of Rs 15.12 lakh seized; 2 held

Sambalpur: Busting a fake currency racket, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch with help of the district police seized counterfeit notes amounting to Rs 15.12 lakh and arrested two persons in this connection at Nua Adhapada village under Jujumara police station in Sambalpur district yesterday.

Acting on reliable input about illegal business of face currency notes, a joint team of STF and district police conducted a raid and nabbed two accused–Podar Prasad Sahu and Janmajaya Bagh.

The cops also recovered counterfeit notes of Rs 500 and Rs 200 denominations amounting to Rs 15,12,500, two laptops, a colour printer and other incriminating articles from their possession.

Meanwhile, a case in this regard has been registered at Jujumara police station under Sections 489(A), 489(B),489(C), 489(D) and 120(B) of the IPC. Further investigation is underway in this connection.
