Odisha family spends night with serpent, becomes talk of town

Bhubaneswar: A family in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district reportedly stumbled upon an unusual guest under their mattress once they woke up today morning.

Dhirendra Rout, his wife and two children of Kamalpur village under Kiapala panchayat in Banki area had no idea regarding the presence of a two-foot-long cobra under their mattress.

“The snake might have climbed onto our bed when we were asleep yesterday night. We got curious when we spotted some unusual movement under the mattress this morning. We stumbled upon the snake once we removed the mattress,” said Dhirendra.

On being informed, a Snake Helpline volunteer reached Dhirendra’s home and rescued the serpent, sources said.

“We are very much grateful to the almighty as the snake has not done any harm to us,” said Dhirendra.
