Odisha: Fee waiver for Odia Honours students to continue in govt colleges

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education department has said the fee waiver for Odia Honours students of government degree colleges in Odisha will continue without any hindrances.

The government degree colleges in Odisha will bear all fees except the hostel charges of Odia Honours students from their own funds, clarified the department.

The Higher Education department, in its January, 2018 letter, had directed the government degree colleges not to collect any fees except the hostel charges from Odia Honours students. However, some degree colleges had informed the Higher Education department that they were facing difficulties in implementing the fee exemption order.

The colleges had pleaded that they were facing troubles in depositing the examination and other fees of Odia Honours students.

Taking into account the representations of the government degree/autonomous colleges, the Higher Education department has made it clear that the institutions will bear all fees except the hostel charges of Odia Honours students from their own funds.

“It is clarified that except the hostel fees, all other expenditures of Odia Honours students shall be borne by the higher education institutions from their development/ examination funds,” said Higher Education Department Deputy Director, PTC, Rajata Kumar Mansingh in his letter to the Principals of all government degree/ autonomous colleges of Odisha recently.
