Odisha: Film producer Sanjay Nayak granted bail in woman journo slapping case

Bhubaneswar: Odia film producer Sanjay Nayak aka Tutu Nayak was granted conditional bail today by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in Bhubaneswar against a bailer and security deposit of Rs 50,000 in a woman journo slapping case.

SDJM court accorded bail after hearing a petition previously filed by the accused producer.

Worth mentioning, Sanjay was arrested on Saturday (November 4) under Sections 354, 341, 323, and 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sent to jail after his bail plea was deferred.

Allegedly, Sanjay had misbehaved with a woman journalist and was arrested and sent to judicial custody. Earlier, the hearing of the case was deferred to November 8 (today).

The Court had sought the case diary and criminal antecedents of Sanjay, if any.

Kharavel Nagar police had arrested the film producer for allegedly slapping and misbehaving Debasmita Rout at a cinema hall during the premier show of an Odia film.

Sanjay has already apologised amid allegations that he slapped the journalist.
