Odisha: FIR lodged over sale of Srimandir’s Nirmalya on Amazon

Puri: Sale of Nirmalya prasad of Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri on e-commerce platform Amazon has sparked a controversy as an FIR in this connection was today lodged at the Singhadwara police station here.

Sambhunath Khuntia, a servitor of the temple, filed the complaint against Amazon India. “Nirmalya is being sold on Amazon at higher price without any permission of the temple administration. I have lodged an FIR in this regard and drawn the attention of the temple administration. The person or organisation involved in the sale should be punished,” said Khuntia.

On the other hand, the Niti Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration said that Amazon India has not sought permission for the online sale of Nirmalya.

The prasad is being sold on the website at Rs 59 per packet containing 25 grams of Nirmalya with a delivery charge of Rs 50.
