Odisha fire services team leaves for Meghalaya to rescue trapped labourers

Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha fire services department today left for Meghalaya to rescue 15 labourers trapped in a coal mine.

The 21-member team led by the CFO Sukanta Sethy along with equipment including high-powered pumps headed for the mission in a special aircraft in the morning.

Notably, total 15 labourers were trapped in a coal mine in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya State since December 13. The chances of their survival appear to be very minimal as they were stranded in the past 15 days inside the mine.

The NDRF team has been engaged to trace the workers. However, nobody has been rescued yet in the operation.
