Odisha firecracker explosion: CM meets injured victims, orders probe, grants ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakh to each deceased’s next of kin

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today met the injured victims of Puri firecracker explosion, who are undergoing treatment in a private hospital here. The CM announced a high-level administrative probe into the fatal mishap and granted an ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakh to each deceased’s next of kin.

Chief Minister Patnaik discussed with on-duty senior doctors concerned in the health facility regarding treatment of the critically injured persons and advised them to provide the best possible treatment to those victims. He also met the family members of the injured and wished an early recovery.

Later, the CM ordered for administrative inquiry, which is to be conducted by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC)-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue & Disaster Management Department Satyabrata Sahu. The SRC will submit his detailed inquiry report to the CM soon.

Worth mentioning, the CM had previously announced that total expenses incurred for the treatment of injured victims will be borne by the State government from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

At least three persons including a minor died in the firecracker explosion, in which around 30 others sustained grievous injuries and are undergoing treatment in critical condition.
