Odisha: Flights cancelled at Bhubaneswar airport due to cyclone ‘Titli’

Bhubaneswar:  Several flights to and from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital have been cancelled, possibly till Thursday, in view of expected bad weather due cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ which is expected to make landfall between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts tomorrow morning.

According to BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota, flights on Bhubaneswar-Vizag, Bhubaneswar-Kolkata, Bhubaneswar-Delhi, Bhubaneswar-Mumbai and Bhubaneswar-Bengaluru were cancelled.

Low-cost carrier IndiGo has cancelled all of its flights on Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam till tomorrow. The IndiGo has cancelled below flights.

 

BBI-DEL – 6E2127 STD – 0130

BBI-DEL – 6E2489 STD – 0515

BBI-CCU – 6E707 STD –  0525

BBI-BLR – 6E157 STD –   0640

BBI-BOM – 6E375 STD – 0850

 

Subsequently the incoming flights for above routes are also cancelled. There would be no night parking for flights at the airport today, Hota informed.

Notably, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclone ‘Titli’ over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a severe cyclonic storm Wednesday and is very likely to make landfall between Gopalpur coast in Odisha and Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh by 5.30 am tomorrow morning.
