Khordha, Aug 8:

At least 13,000 people in Khordha, Jatni, and Delang blocks have been badly affected by floods following a 200 feet wide breach in the right embankment of river Daya around 10 pm on Thursday night near Jorakani under the Jatni police limits in Odisha’s Khordha district.

Nearly 3,000 people of Pandiabili and Budhangara villages of Jatni block have been shifted to safer places by the administration. A free kitchen has been opened to provide them with cooked food, the deputy relief commissioner Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra told reporters here this morning.

The water flowing through the breach in the embankment has led to further swelling of the Rajua river, leading to extensive inundation in Brajamohanpur, Saradhapur, Hadapada, Narangarh, Ramchandi, Krushnapur, Raipur and Lekhanpur villages under Khordha block.
