Odisha flood: Over 1200 villages in 10 districts affected

Bhubaneswar: As many as 1276 villages in 54 blocks of ten districts– Angul, Balangir, Balasore, Boudh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Deogarh, and Sonepur– in Odisha have been affected so far in the flood, the initial damage assessment report of the state government said.

A total of 415817 people have suffered due to the flood. As many as 383046 people of 552 villages have been marooned. While 2757 houses have been damaged, 278 of those were completely damaged, the report said.

This apart, 18534 people have been shifted to 106 flood shelters. Similarly, 105881 livestock have been affected due to the flood, it said.

Five persons (one each from Bargarh, Jajpur, Balasore, Nuapada, and Bhadrak districts) have died in the flood, the report added.
