Odisha forester caught with huge amount of cash; Rs 13.85 lakh recovered so far

Cuttack: Vigilance officials recovered huge amount cash from Komna section forester Ghanashyam Sabar in Odisha’s Nuapada district today.

According to sources, Vigilance sleuths intercepted Sabar on NH-353 while he was travelling to Khariar from Komna on a motorcycle (OD 26F 4075) and recovered Rs 5,05,000 in cash from his possession.

Subsequently, the Vigilance officials conducted a raid at his official residence at Komna and recovered Rs 8,00,000 more from him. They also found Rs 80,000 from his table drawer, sources said.

“We recovered Rs 13,85,000 in cash from the possession of Sabar. He could not give any satisfactory account for the recovered cash,” said a Vigilance official.

Following the cash recovery, the Vigilance officials have launched simultaneous searches at Sabar’s residence at Khariar and his parental house at Borogaon in Nuapada district, sources added.
