Odisha: Former Cong MLA Krushna Sagaria joins BSP

Bhubaneswar: Former Congress MLA from Koraput, Krushna Chandra Sagaria today joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) at a function organised at Lower PMG in Odisha capital in the presence of senior party leaders.

Sagaria had on November 6, last year resigned from the legislator post stating that he had no moral rights of holding the position after the Kunduli ‘gangrape’ and suicide incident.

“I feel I have failed to provide justice to the girl victim. If I am unable to give justice to a poor dalit girl using the constitutional post I was entrusted by the people, I have no moral rights of holding the position anymore,” Sagaria had said in a statement.

Later, he was expelled from the Congress on January 19 for indulging in anti-party activities.

Notably, Sagaria had successfully contested the 2014 assembly polls in the state as a Congress candidate and was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Koraput Vidhan Sabha constituency.
