Odisha: Former MLA Jitu Mitra joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA of Khordha, Jyotirindra Nath Mitra joined Biju Janata Dal, here today.

Popularly known as Jitu Mitra, he along with his supporters met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence and officially joined the ruling party this morning.

The two-time MLA from Khordha had earlier quit BJD and joined Bharatiya Janata Party prior to the 2014 general elections. He was elected as Khordha MLA in 2000 as an independent candidate and retained his Assembly seat in 2004 on a BJD ticket.
