Odisha: Former PLFI cadre killed by ‘PLFI operatives’

Rourkela: A former cadre Peoples’ Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was killed allegedly by PLFI members in an area bordering Odisha and Jharkhand today evening. The deceased was identified as Madan Majhi.

Madan, an active member of the PLFI, left the organization five years back. He was staying at Purunapani in Nuagaon area.

Today evening, Madan had organized a cock-fight near Jamatei forest under Gerada police outpost. When everyone was busy with the cock fight, reportedly some members of the PLFI shot at Madan injuring him critically.

He was rushed to the IGH, Rourkela where doctors declared him brought dead.

A villager said earlier PLFI members had attempted to kill Madan suspecting him to be a police informer. Today, they got a clear chance to eliminate him, the villager added.

Odisha Police and Jharkhand Police are jointly investigating the murder incident.
