Odisha: Former student leader held for cheating woman

Jajpur: A former student leader was arrested at Panikoli bus stand of Jajpur district today on charges of cheating a woman.

The accused, Jitendra Pradhan was the former president of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal of Binjharpur unit. Pradhan was booked by Binjharpur police after a girl lodged a complaint accusing him of maintaining physical relationship with her with a promise to marry her. The girl further alleged that later Pradhan refused to marry her.

“We arrested Jitendra from Panikoili bus stand today. His statement will be recorded and he will be produced before court later today,” said a police official.

Earlier, Pradhan was suspended from the ruling party’s membership after the police complaint was lodged against him.
