Odisha forms 5-member SIT to probe into Pari ‘murder’ case

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) as ordered by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to probe into the alleged murder of a five-year-old girl in Nayagarh district.

While Senior IPS officer and IG of Police Arun Bothra has been given charge to head the SIT, RK Dora, SP of CID, CB and RC Thamba, Additional SP, CID, CB were posted as the members of the SIT. Others two members of the SIT were Narendra Kuma Behera, Inspector of Police, CID, CB and Mamata Rani Panda, Inspector of Police, CID, CB.

The Home Department wrote a letter to the Registrar General of Orissa High Court informing the government’s decision on selection of the five senior cops for the SIT.

It is worth to be mentioned that the SIT probe into the alleged murder of the five-year-old girl, Amrita Sneha Sahu (Pari) from Jadupur village of Nayagarh district will be monitored by the Orissa High Court.

Also, the Home Department requested the Orissa HC’s Chief Justice to accord permission to a sitting HC Judge to monitor the SIT probe.

On Friday, the Chief Minister said the State government was ready for a SIT probe into the matter if needed. Early this week, he had ordered a probe by the Crime Branch into the case.
