Bhubaneswar: Following directive by the Centre, Odisha government constituted a three-member committee for release of eligible prisoners on the occasion Gandhi Jayanti this year.

In pursuance to the guidelines issued by the Government of India, State Government do hereby constitute a State level committee with three members to examine cases of eligible prisoners for special remission and release on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, said the State Home department said in a release.

The three-member panel headed by Home Additional Chief Secretary is comprised of Law Principal Secretary and ADG of prisons as member and member secretary respectively.

After examining the cases of prisoners, the State Home department will release a list of old prisoners serving jail term in various jails across Odisha.
