Odisha: Four held for attack on Superintendent of PRM Medical College and Hospital

Bhubaneswar/Baripada: A day after the alleged attack on the Superintendent of PRM Medical College & Hospital, Baripada, Prof (Dr) Baikuntha Nath Mohapatra by a mob of people, the Mayurbhanj Police today arrested four persons in connection with the case.

The four persons, namely Laxmi Patra, Laxmi Bindhani, Suni Patra, Nirmal Kumar Pradhan were booked under different sections of IPC, Sec-51 DM Act and Sec-3 of Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (prevention of violence and damage of property) Act-2008.

Earlier in the day, Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra asked Mayurbhanj SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas to probe the alleged attack on the PRM Medical College and Hospital Superintendent at the earliest and take stringent legal action against the persons involved.

In a letter, the Additional Chief Secretary also asked to ensure 24X7 security to the staff of the medical college and hospital so that they can perform their duties freely and fairly.

It is worth to be mentioned that the MCH Superintendent was attacked by a mob of people while he was having discussion with another doctor of the hospital about the death of a 17 year-old patient Supriya Patra from Baripada Sadar area of Mayurbhanj district yesterday.
