Odisha: Gambling racket busted; 10 nabbed

Nuapada: Continuing its crackdown against gamblers, Nuapada police yesterday conducted raids on two gambling dens and arrested 10 persons from two separate villages in Nuapada district.

The cops also seized Rs 19,000 cash, nine motorcycles,and seven mobile phones from their possessions. The arrested are- Bijaya Sahu (32), Omkar Sahu (25), Topfam Rout (22), Gopi Dandsena (33), Bharat Rout (19), Sanjaya Dandsena (22), Zaved Khan (29), Deolal Dandsena (23), Suresh Bag (23) and Mahesh Barik (24).

Acting on a tip-off, a team Nuapada Sadar police led by IIC Aditya Mahakud conducted raids at Lukupali and Padmapur villages and nabbed the gamblers.

“After receiving information about the gambling, we raided two dens and arrested 10 persons involved in the illegal activity. They will be produced before the court today,” said IIC Aditya Mahakud.
