Odisha: Ganjam admin issues NBWs against vehicle owners for their refusal to poll duty

Bhubaneswar: The administration in Odisha’s Ganjam district today issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against vehicle owners who have refused to provide their service during the upcoming twin polls in the state.

Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida has issued NBWs against at least 21 vehicle owners after they refused to provide their service to the administration during   upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the district.

The Collector also directed the police to arrest the vehicle owners for their refusal to provide vehicles for ferrying polling officials to various booths in the state.

The district administration usually hires private vehicles to ferry polling officials from the headquarters to various booths during the polls.

Notably, Berhampur Lok Sabha seat in Ganjam district and the Assembly constituencies under its jurisdiction are scheduled to go for polls on May 13.
