The Orissa High Court today granted conditional bail to Dr. Motilal Gouda who was arrested in the fake gazette notification scam.

Gouda, who was an assistant director in the Directorate of Factories and Boilers under the Industries department had allegedly misappropriated about Rs 88 lakh by bringing out a fake gazette notification concerning health check-up of workers. He had empanelled pathology units for health check-ups with the help of forged gazette notification. He had allegedly signed a contract worth Rs 63 lakh with Navaratna PSU Nalco and was in the process of signing another worth Rs 1.02 crore when the irregularities came to the fore.

He was arrested by a four-member team of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on July 3.

Gouda has been charged with forgery, cheating, criminal conspiracy and causing disappearance of evidence.
