Bhubaneswar: Since few hours to celebrate Shree Ganesh Chaturthi with much devotion and fanfare across Odisha, the devotees are awaiting to see the Lord in Baahubali avatar standing on the elephant and sitting like a king.

Youngsters of various organisations are set to worship Lord Ganesh, one of the five primary deities in Hindu religion, in different forms including in Baahubali avatar -- the most influential character in the flick 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', which still moves like a force in mind of viewers.

The competition is underway to decorate the pandals, houses and camps are set up for selling of different kinds of idols in Odisha capital. Among varieties of idols, Baahubali, Budha Haati Ganesh, Natraj Ganesh and Surya Simhasan Ganesh will be the special attraction on pandals.

This year, the Mumbai styled idols have been ordered the most, especially idols like the ‘Baahubali’ movie lord Ganesh standing on elephant, sitting like a king are in demand in the market, said artisan Tikam Mohapatra in Old Bhubaneswar area.

The artisan is now busy in making 14-ft-high Budha Haati Ganesh, 15-ft-high Natraj Ganesh and Ganesh sitting on Surya throne.

The stone studded Ganesh and other designs are also in the demand for selling in the city, Mohapatra said adding that the idols are made of red clay.

The price for idols with the height of 2-feet to 15-feet starts from Rs 1,000 to Rs 15,000. Besides Bhubaneswar, he also takes orders for the idols from Puri and Pipili.

The artisans in the city began making the idols in the past two months.

The idols like Ganesh sitting on moon, coming out of Kalash (pitcher) are also in the public demand in the city, said artisan Shravan Kumar, who makes idols from the clay brought from Mumbai and Bikaner.

The small idols are priced between Rs 200 and the cost of big idols is upto Rs 15,000, he said.

Besides, the artisans from Kolkata have been brought to Bhubaneswar for making the idols especially in stones, pearls and delicate clothes.

The idols, which will be worshipped in Bhubaneswar and the city outskirts, will be immersed in Kuakhai River. For immersion of idols, the BMC has started excavating a temporary pond on the river bank making an arrangement to immerse more than 30 idols at a time.

In view of environment pollution, the idols worshipped in the city and outskirts will be immersed in the temporary pond, said Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
