Odisha: Girl falls into Burla Power Canal while meeting Instagram friend

Burla: In an unfortunate incident, a girl fell into the Burla Power Canal here in Odisha’s Sambalpur district and went missing on Tuesday while meeting her male friend.

The missing girl has been identified as Nisha Jha of Jharsuguda, a BBA student of a Rourkela-based private educational institution.

According to reports, she had befriended a +3 student of Gangadhar Meher University in Sambalpur on Instagram, three weeks ago.

The girl yesterday came to her sister’s place at Jagannath Colony in Sambalpur town. Later, she went to the power canal with her friend on his scooter.

However, she slipped into water while spending time with her friend at the spot.

On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the place and initiated an operation to rescue the girl.

Till last reports came in, the girl was yet to be traced.
