Odisha girl in Indian weightlifting team for CWG 2018 in Australia

Bhubaneswar: Odisha athlete Saraswati Rout was placed in the Indian weightlifting team announced for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2018, commencing from April 4 at Gold Coast in Australia.

Saraswati will represent India in 58 kg women’s category in weightlifting.

Along with her, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (48kg), Kh Sanjita Chanu (53kg), Vandna Gupta (63kg), Punam Yadav (69kg), Seema (75kg), Lalchhanhimi (90kg) and Purnima Pandey (+90kg) have qualified for the Gold Coast CWG 2018.

On the other hand, four players from Odisha– Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Sunita Lakra and Lilima Minz– have been included in the 18-member Indian women’s hockey squad for the upcoming international event.
