Swati Mishra, hailing from Sunabeda in Koraput district of Odisha has recently been crowned as the runner-up of the Glamourvilla Miss Teen Global 2016, held at the Bollywood Sea Queen Beach Resort in Goa from 4-8 May 2016. Her father Bapu Mishra works for Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and her mother Preeti Mishra is a home-maker who designed all her costumes for the pageant.

In an exclusive interview to Odisha Sun Times, Swati revealed that a random Google search landed her on the website of Miss Teen Global and she registered herself. Because she has no idea about the nuances of modelling and beauty contests, she sought the help of Ritika Ramtri, her pageant coach at the Tiara. She underwent a grueling one month to be groomed and made “contest-ready”.

“My parents have been really supportive throughout the course of event with the condition that I do not let fame come in the way of completing my education. I want to make a name for Odisha and India, in the long run,” said a very excited Swati.

The 17-year-old also won the title of Miss Talented in one of the talent rounds of the beauty pageant where she herself choreographed a freestyle dance sequence that was well-appreciated by the judges and helped her score points.

She labels herself as an animal-lover whose hobbies are reading books, acting, dancing with a keen interest in fashion and yoga. She likes to play basketball and kho-kho. She is a professional Odissi dancer, poet and anchor and is a Plus II (Science) second year student. She wants to continue participating in such contests and earn a name for herself on a global platform as a beauty queen.
