Odisha: Girl student found hanging in private engineering college hostel; murder alleged

Jatni: A girl student was found hanging today under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room at a private engineering college in Taraboi locality under Jatni police limits of Khurda district. However, family members of the girl alleged that she has been murdered and hanged.

The deceased student was identified as Sara Sampurna Mohanty, who belonged to Kandalpur village under Kakatpur tehsil of Puri district. The girl was a Second-Year IT diploma student.

The girl’s body was spotted with injuries marks on it, a private source expressed.

“I had spoken to my daughter (Sara Sampurna) and her roommate yesterday. My daughter also talked with us today morning. After receiving information from Sara’s maternal uncle in the afternoon, I rushed to the hospital but saw her dead,” the girl’s father Sandip Mohanty said.

On being informed, Jatni police reached the spot and recovered the body. Police have sent the body to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for post-mortem and a report is awaited.
